Means nothing ignore it. Just assume you don't have the job, and if they contact you later then you will be happy, and if they don't... well, you already assume it wasn't going to happen either.
As a hiring manager, I would send out these emails to people that I liked, but maybe were not 100% sold on, so I wanted to see other candidates before coming back to them for a second look. Or I thought they may not be 100% suited for the job I was currently reviewing but knew there might be a different opportunity that you might be better suited for them later.
That makes sense. I think the hiring manager likes me for sure though, our interview went over time and he added me on LinkedIn and an email address, has a good rapport. Of course I shouldn’t read into it too much but I did have some positive signs.
That’s true about the suited part though. I would also want a job that I’d excel in so if it’s not the right fit then maybe I’m happy in another role. I’m currently being interviewed for another role within the firm by another manager now.
Was considered for 2 roles same company
Well as a hiring manager I never emailed anyone personally that I never would consider again or out right would never hire. So its a good sign more than bad, but don't get your hopes up.
Hiring process can be become complicated... especially when involves another manager.

And the second part of what you said - that’s so true. Once I was rejected from a role then hired on 2 months later for it 😂
Update: so they were considering me for another role to which I was supposed to interview for today. They cancelled it yesterday and rejected me for the other role entirely. Seems like some disorganization happening or something? They said they’d like to keep in touch about other roles as they become available in the future.
Too bad about the then canceling the other position. But I figured that they were considering you for another position. But yeah, sounds like disorganization.
Only time I had this type of issue in hiring a qualified candidate, was when it comes down to pay. Senior, Management at the Program or VP level did not want to pay what was being asked for. So, if they did not come back to you with a lower offer, then yeah, they are just disorganized.
That’s interesting perspective. Yeah I said I was flexible as far as pay and provided a range…so I don't know. It’s just bizarre how they were acting.
