What kind of worker are you?

You will hear from time to time, "you work to live, you should never live to work". You will note that those who believe this care more about money than they would like to admit. It is also said a work-life balance means putting work second.
If what you do has no meaningful impact, then all there is, is the pay. But a great doctor, whose passion for healing leads him overseas to participate in Doctor Without Borders, or a savant artisan stone worker will condemn focus upon wages over societal impact. It is definitely equally foolish to believe that following your dreams always leads to success.
The truth lies somewhere in between, as with all things. You must pay your bills, or find someone who will pay your bills for you. But that doesn't mean you should be indiscriminate with the work you choose. Instead of thinking always of yourself, your job is an opportunity to think of yourself, less. You're getting paid, so why not be giving and contribute during your shift? Think hard about what the world needs, and find one of those needs you are confident that you can fulfill.
That's how you manage to be enthusiastic towards work.
I always worked smart and learned the system so that my work looked perfect. To do that, I worked hard to get what I needed done so that I could have time to slack off and/or goof around.
I had one manager friend when I was new at a corporate job who once said that he didn't have to work all day to do an eight hour job. That was smart.
I work hard but I like to do ONLY what I’m supposed to do. In school, i’d go above and beyond. In the workforce, nope. I do my job and try not to watch the clock. I dont care to do extra tasks when I know I won't receive any extra credit and I don’t volunteer for overtime. I’d only work it if mandated. I work as a means to an end. It could be my dream job and I’d still prefer to do what i gotta do just so i can go home
I prefer 40 hours jobs but have worked 60 hours a week many times before because the shit was mandated. Im not volunteering for that 🤣 Couldn’t wait to quit that crap
I used to finish assignments early so i could just chill the rest of the shift. But now a days managers give you crap to keep you busy. Nah. I’ll just slow around with projects now to avoid having unnecessary stuff piled on
Jordan Peterson said the whole point of working is to get paid doing something you would not do for free and I don't completely agree with that. I've always worked because I enjoyed working, not because I needed money. I've had boring and depressing jobs but I preferred working a boring and depressing job to doing nothing all day which is worse than being bored at the jobs I'm getting paid for.

I act my wage.
I used to go above and beyond, took on extra responsibilities without extra pay, all that. Then at some point I realized it didn't benefit me and that company couldn't give a shit less. So now, I act my wage. You want me to take on extra responsibilities? Pay me for them or I'm not doing it. Simple. Companies now are starting to realize that they, like any consumer, get what they pay for. I am leasing my time to you, and it is up to you to make it worth it for me.
See my age... I'm not really ''working'' - but I work, of course. I share my experiences, motivate, encourage, coach, shape the team and every now and again put out a ''fire'' if no one else has the good ideas.
I won't join the consumerist and greed-capitalist ideas of having a ''career'' - I just... make sense.
At least I think so 😁
Hard worker that goes above and beyond.
Within my working environment everything has to be absolutely 100% accurate before a case enters a court... It comes down to being a case of Guilty or Not Guilty.
I tend to be the steady worker. I show up on time, work the entire day (sometimes longer) and get things done.
I can do both labor-type jobs and get my hands dirty or get things done at my desk.
I like to think I’m a smart worker. My co workers think I’m crazy. But my way is the best way for me, and if they want to help, they have to do it how I want to do it, or they have to do something else lol
Smart one. If i can make it easier for me, i'm gonna do it. takes me about 3-6 shifts to find out what I can get away with and what I can't but i ain't bustin' my ass for anymore jobs.
I learned long ago that hard work is rewarded with more work. I find the quickest and easiest solution to achieve what is required of me. Nothing more.
Id vote B , I have always tried to avoid hard work , I like to leave that for others , but I've had some really hard working roles.
I have days where I work hard and other days where I do as little a possible. Though I'm also first to volunteer when my company needs someone.
Lets just say im scheduled 40 hours per week and am normally working 10 to 20 hours beyond that. Some times 30 to 40 hours beyond that. I love what i do.
I’m a hard worker but I don’t go above and beyond
@thatshydork Can you check out my post "Is my neighbor flirting with me"
I accidentally posted it anonymous... but wanted some opinions and advice on it.
I do whatever it takes to make the business run smoothly. Sometimes I am crazy busy for 12 to 18 hours. Other days I cruise and do next to nothing.
i actually work hard but damn i wish i could sleep all day while i get paid lol
I do as little as humanely possible and hope every day that someone burns every company building down with everyone still inside
I'm very much a smart worker. I like to get a lot done with minimal effort.
