Is it normal for therapists to get angry with you if you, as the client want to terminate the sessions?

It seems highly unprofessional. Therapists are people too, but it feels like they should express that frustration to someone besides the departing client.

They probably feel like you wasted their time. Not saying that them getting angry with you was right, but when someone feels like their time is wasted, they get angry.

Again, when someone feels like their time has been wasted, they will get mad. Not saying that anger is the appropriate response, but it happens.

Intake it more like she took out her personal problems onto me

Had it happen with several older gals who openly said "this" & "that" to me

It is your right to terminate the session whenever you wish unless you bought a pack of X amount of sessions.

it's not right for them to be angry with you, but they may have thought of it as a waste of time. could have spoken more sweetly

They were paid. That's how it works. Clint's Conner and go, and not every therapist is right for every client. I tried one here but it wasn't working and I stopped with her after two sessions. A couple of years after that I found someone else through Psychology Today and she's brilliant.
