I am now wondering why is chlorophyll (the important stuff inside leaves) green?

i know "it reflected green to our eyes" ergo appears green , but a different type and color is possible and possibly more efficient so why green?

consider "Red light has the longest wavelength and the least energy,"
and "Chlorophyll molecules absorb blue and red" that is least energy... if plants had a DIFFERENT color than green... it can absorb NOT RED and reflects the low energy red.

pretty simple. chlorophyl captures all light and turns it into energy but it is particularly efficient at absorbing the red and blue wavelengths so the green reflects back more, which is why more green hits our retina after the sun light bounced off the plant. and the reason for that is litterally the physical strucutre of the molecule.

I guess its a relic from earliest water plants and algea. Blue light penetrates water the best, with green light being second.

So its was beneficial for ancient water plants using these wavelenghts of light for photosynthesis. Which apperantly wasn't an advantage on land either.

There are other photosynthetic pigments which are red, but predominantly it's green (chlorophyll). Chlorophyll absorbs blue and red spectra of light, it reflects green that is what your eyes see. The reason speculated to be that blue light (smaller wavelength) is more energetic and the early sun outputted more energy in the redder end of the spectra so the pigment captures the most energetic and most abundant parts of light.
