Oh my goodness, I've never experienced anything quite like this. The professors I have encountered are incredibly lazy, and it's absolutely mind-boggling. They fail to provide adequate instruction and heavily rely on the internet. It seems they don't understand that the money I'm spending is supposed to contribute to my actual learning. For instance, my English professor suggested that if we need assistance, we should turn to YouTube. What on earth? I didn't enroll in this institution and invest all this money just to watch YouTube videos. I came here with the intention of acquiring knowledge. Every morning, I wake up at 8 am and commute for 45 minutes, dedicated to my education. However, the professors merely assign homework haphazardly, without proper guidance. Instead of lecturing us, they expect us to take notes from random articles. Personally, I would prefer traditional in-person lectures accompanied by note-taking. When it comes to exams, the content is completely unrelated to what we've learned, and we're even allowed to use our notes. As a result, I find myself struggling immensely. It's truly disappointing and disheartening.

I mean I dont know where you go to university if its like one of those U. S. Or British (and many more countries but these seem like good excample) expensive ones than yes I never understood why its that expensive. If its like a different and the less espensive ones you bassically pay the university for being able to work not the prof. to teach you.
Universities are not schools. You are supposed to do a lot of stuff on your own without clear guidelines.
Next is all my personal experience and I dont know if this is generealy true:
Generally a lecture goes like this: you preread and try to understand the next theory or concept. After that you visit the lecture and get it set into perspective of what you learned before. After that you try to work with it in courses or seminars. The last point is maybe a semester or more later.
About tests: highly depends on who does the testing. (Which sometimes is not the prof. but a scientific assistant). The real 'tests' are writing your own stuff from what you learned back in the first few semester in context of a course.
The most important part you learn in a university are scientific quoting, researching and forming of theories for concepts you are looking at.
Depending on your field there are a few well known theories everybody should know and understand, but more important part is knowing how to find information, not knowing it directly.
My college years were an absolute waste since what I do now is what I love doing and my college knowledge has 0 contribution in it
So to all young people out there, don't go to college to study things which is not part of your life plan
Collage and school is all about the money. Most of what you learn there has nothing to do with what you do in real life. I learned more from google than at school.
Middle school and high school is the reason why so many collage students are shiftees and unsatisfied. It's because school don't teach you to decide for yourself, it teaches you to follow instructions and they let grades define your intelligence breaking the confidence of the students who just aren't interested in the lessons and also make graduation the top priority of most students. They're never given time to think about themselves, their professions, their careers paths and so on which is why they have a hard time deciding what they want on collage and every time they shift courses, more money goes to the university or some of them will just end up graduating with a course they don't even like. It's a hoax!!
And the government is taking advantage of it. More collage money, more taxes for them. Specially in our country where the government just pockets every money they get.
