Like, we're not robots. Of course, I have a great attendance record so when I don't show up they're not mad at me.
Usually people get angry at the people who are always calling in.
If they hold a grudge, that's their problem. If they start making you do weird or overloading tasks, that's retaliation.
You're a human being, not a slave.
The only thing you're recommended to do is to call-in so they can have time to adjust the schedule or make calls to offer overtime to others. That's a courtesy.
