Going to college?

So... I've sorta been thinking about finally attending college... online that is. I was a very good student prior to graduating high school. I was on the honor roll. But I skipped college because I could bring myself to live on campus with people I didn't know. I was terrified so I never went for a degree in anything like I wanted. But I've been thinking of enrolling to get a degree completely online of possible. And I know some colleges allow that. So my question is has anyone here gone to college late to get a degree. Is it even worth it

I do not know your location or chosen school but the school I went to was more expensive for those who lived on campus because they took advantage of the fact they were close to the classes and professor you had. I think living off campus while doing school work would be fine. And make it your mission, and not your secondary purpose, cause getting a degree will change your life in many ways that other things cannot change your life in so you don't want anything to side track you if you decide to get a degree.

Eventually the kids will be out of the house and having a skill set (vocational or trade school) or higher education (degree) will set you up for better options. Yes, do it now and continue to get part time stuff in the meantime so you won’t be unexperienced when the kids finally move out.
I was working towards my bachelors while I was still on the military, but that would’ve pigeonholed me into a job where I was sitting behind a desk, rest of my life and I couldn’t do it, so I stopped when I was three classes short of my degree. I went to a trade school when I got out of the military to years and inside of six months I had a job doing something that I loved. I’ve been doing I’ve been doing that now for six years never stop improving yourself. It could be a degree or I can be a training certificate or I can be volunteer work but you’re getting reputation Ginny experience you give me skills knowledge.

Yes. Went to college, graduated, and now back in college online. Advise. Only go if you know for certain what you want to do. And stick with it. If you don’t, don’t just go to get stuff… it’s too expensive. Intern, or do something to figure out what you might like, then get the education in that specific thing. Traditional college will put you in more debt than anything else. Go more the non traditional. Accelerated programs, core specific. Because regular college will make you take courses that have zero to do with your major just so you can be more “well rounded.” Be careful with those. They don’t benefit you much.

I’ve just started college this year so I’ve only been a Freshman for a month or so and I was worried about who I would end up living with, especially as I was assigned to a 6 bedrooms dorm. But I had absolutely nothing to worry about at all. I clicked with my dorm mates immediately. I live with a guy who’s on the football team, a guy who’s really tech savvy, a guy who’s gay as hell but has a wicked sense of humor, a girl who loves painting and a girl who is a lesbian punk emo and in a rock band. I’ve only known those guys a month and it feels like I’ve known them a lifetime!

Although I haven't experienced this personally, I've had several friends and acquaintances who did, and they're very glad that they went through with their goals, to my knowledge. I graduated from college later in life. I was in my 30s. I had to drop out twice because I ran out of money. Now I teach computer science at a local college. I never took an online course but I did teach a few of them. I think the in person classes are much better. However, being 30 years old should not be an obstacle. It may tale you 4 or 5 years to finish but you are going to be 35 years old anyway. Wouldn't it be better to be 35 with a degree and starting a new career?

I'd say it depends ENTIRELY on what you want to do AFTER you get the degree. If you don't KNOW what that is and you aren't CERTAIN that you need the degree later on, I'd suggest rethinking it--especially if you have to pay a lot of money to go. Bottom line is you don't want to pay for anything that doesn't have a pretty quick payback period for you.
