Should I ask for my union rep?

I’m in a training program learning how to drive a city bus. It is just myself another female and our male instructor. He is constantly talking about sex, religion and politics, and he’s very offensive and racist. He makes several inappropriate comments on all of these topics daily, and we finally reported him. The two managers want us to talk to the company’s legal aid tomorrow and I’m wondering if this is something I should have my union rep with me on. i’ve never worked in a union before and don’t know anything about it. I got wrote up because he told me to make a turn and I scraped the back of the bus on a pole and they asked me then if I wanted to union rep and they told me the union rep couldn’t really help me so I declined.

Definitely speak to your union rep about the incident, and see if they believe you need them to attend.
