Don't do it. Unions are the worst! All they do is inconvenience other people's lives. Look what happened with the port strike. I lost all respect for unions when some of my professors said they were going on strike, and our summer vacation will be postponed to make up for the lost days. Like why should WE be punished because you guys decided to go on strike? They are the worst thing ever created! All they do is lead to more conflict. One of the stores in my town have a Union and one of the employees had the nerve to tell my mom and I not to shop there. Fuck you! We'll shop wherever we want. Your working conditions aren't our problem. They weren't even that bad. Often their demands are so ridiculous! But if you want to make a lot of enemies you can join

I don't like unions, but to each their own... they can protect you. I like the idea of firing the lower quality workers and cleaning house to get back to efficiency too much to be in a union.

As Unions fight for better work conditions there is nothing to lose.

Also you don't have to tell your boss.

It depends. If a lot of other people are in the union then your boss is unlikely to notice or care. If you would be the only person in the union at your workplace, I think he probably should avoid doing this.
