How much should you pay someone for helping to jump start your car?

Up here in Canada, most of the time people do those things for free you can always offer to pay them, but most people will do things to help others with no cost involved other than the fact that they know that they help someone and maybe somewhere down the road someone will help them that’s the way it should be. If you think you need to pay somebody you can offer them what you think you can afford to jumpstart your car five or 10 bucks if it’s about money but I think most people would not ask for it

Zero. It takes two minutes to jump a car, requires no effort, and costs the person nothing. People will usually go it gladly to help someone out.
Any low life who wanted money for it could go fuck themselves.

I know most people won’t ask for money, but a lot of people do offer I don’t know how many times I’ve Turn down cash for helping somebody out of a ditch for jumping a car for towing them somewhere, etc. or giving them a ride the world a much better place if we can just help each other with no cost involved other than a little bit of our time and a smile

Depends on who they are and how you know them. Was it a friend that left work and drove an hour? A random stranger?

A few times in my life I have driven hours to go pick up a drunk friend from a party that people left him at. It’s just what you do for each other. I have stopped on the side of the road to help an old couple jumpstart their car and I forgot my cables at home. It was much simpler to go to Canadian tire, which was a few blocks away and buy new jumper cables and get them on their way again then going home so I did that I was on my way to my mothers who live 40 minutes away. It’s always nice to be able to help someone. And we should never expect anything in return other than gratitude but that’s my opinion
