To me, it's only "insane" once you dig into sleep, meaning more than 16 hours/day. But I am an extreme example as a former wildland firefighter. My crew would work 16 hours a day for 14 days in a row, for a total of 112 hours each week, 224 hours in a two week period, with NO days off. We then get 48 hours paid leave, and return for another two week tour.
I loved this life. The other half of it was that we get 6 months of vacation (unpaid). I saw it as working double time for half the year, in order to get the other half of the year off. Many others continued working in a side hustle on the off season. I preferred to relax and travel internationally in my downtime.
I am currently in nursing school, and have been since COVID started (2019-2020). I have been working full time in addition to full time school and the schedule has been close to impossible. 40 hours at school, 12-24 (and some weeks 36) hours in hospital clinicals, plus time in classes, &c. I have been in the "insane" range, of not getting enough sleep, sometimes only 2-3 hours here and there. For example, I work all night from 10 pm to 6 am, then I get home around 0630, but class starts at 0830. So I get in bed and sleep for about 1.75 hours, wake up 10 minutes before class starts, put clothes on and join the Zoom. I attend lectures until 2pm, then sleep for another 3-5 hours, then it's time to go to work again.

TLDR; yes I would work only 2 days a week for 16 hours each day, in fact I consider that an extremely easy schedule as I have consistently done more than 3 times that every week for years.
Wow, congratulations! How much longer do you have?
I'm in my final semester now, graduate in December. Test in January and get my license.
I'm enrolled in a BSN program, that will finish in fall of 2024. I'll be deciding in 6-8 months if I want to continue on for my MSN.
That 11pm to 3pm shift of 16 hours is a killer, especially after less than 8 hours of possible sleep. Whatever the job is, there's no way you can work safely and be productive by the end of that shift. I'm surprised an employer would suggest that.
I'm not sure what state you live in, but many states have rules against working conditions like this. There are minimum sleep times between shifts, and maximum shift hours.
It's not uncommon for nurses to work these types of hours. Our norm is 12 hrs. There's a nursing shortage everywhere and these are nurses hours everywhere
I would think that working those hours for too long would get to you. And think about it. That just leaves you 8 hours for sleep, eating, and other business. I mean nurses work three 12-hour days, so I would possibly try it. But I think you would be using 2 days just to recuperate. 😫😖😴💤
Work two 16 hr days then get the rest of the week off. I would do it without giving it much thought.
Right 😂 like sounds good to me

That wouldn't be my first choice, but I'd do it if the money and/or experience was good.
I've done 15-16 hour days, seven days a week. So I could handle twice a week.
I never liked having a lot of days off work. It's too hard to go back again.
If it was 16 hours in a row like 7am to 11pm then I would give it a try. I’ve worked shifts that long and longer before. yeah it sucks but its not something I can’t handle.
However going in for a morning shift and then coming back for an overnight sounds like absolute hell
Day us busy rather split the other 8 hours working while the patient is sleep
I wouldn't do that because missing two days of sleep is in my opinion seriously deleterious to your health and will also screw up your sleep schedule and diurnal rhythm.
I would however seriously consider two full working days of say 6 to 11. Or better yet, 3 days of 12 hours. Anything to get me away from the tyranny of work for the majority of the working week.
i’d loooove to have that many days off. But i can't stand people for more than 8-9 hours in a day. I dont miss my mandated 10-12 hour shifts and i definitely wouldn't do 16 a day
Me too I really don't want to deal with people. 11pm-7am the patient and family will be sleep. I'll only have to deal with people 2 days out of the week for 8 hrs two days
Thats not bad
I rather work from home lol
i’ve done that for 5 years and still won't volunteer for more than 8 hours. They always had to mandate me cause idgafuuuuuq
How did you find the stay at home job?
I just always apply on indeed and linkedin for wfh jobs
I wouldn't personally do it because it would be Overkill for me but then again since u work 32 hours and not 40 it's definitely doable. You're just going to be super tired. You may have a hard time getting up to work on the second 16-hour shift
I did 16 hours, 6 days a week before. Only two would be amazing.
That sounds cool
It will be hard, but rest 5 days off is a hige reward
16 hours for 3 or 4 days I’d be good. 32 hours isn’t enough, unless I’m getting paid like 50 bucks an hour
For me 32 hrs is fine. The rest of the days I can or will pic up non permanent shifts aka shifts I don't have to commit to or uber. I don't want to be committed to or tied down.
16 hour days aren't bad at all. I work 16's fairly often (regularly work 12's) I'd prefer to do 16 hours all in a row. Your suggested hours are not ideal.
You prefer to do 16hrs in a row, I posted 16 hrs in a row, you say ,"your suggested hours are not ideal". I'm not understanding what you're saying. Contradictory
I used to work 16 hours 5-7 days a week. So 32 hours would feel like part time.
As long as they aren't consecutive days; of course.
I have a son who works 115 hours a week for 2 w and off 2 weeks
Double Shifts... I Have Done, hun. lolxxoo
Make it 3 days and I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I would do that.
What? Only working 32 hours? That’s nothing
Best idea to me
What a stupid question.
I wudnt mind
