Do you think decorating your place/making it “homey” is worth it even if you know you’re gonna move someday?

I haven’t invested in my current room as much as i want to because i know ill be moving someday and dont want to waste time and energy (and money) making it look nice (even though i want to) because again, this is not my long term home.. i live with roommates.. but i have been here for three years and dont know yet when ill be moving on. I always think about making it look like i want but i just stop myself (even if its just my own bedroom). Do you “invest” in a place you know you’re gonna leave someday? If i were already living in my own permanent home, i would do everything i want with it, but now that im somewhere temporary, should i?

Dude I feel you on not wanting to waste money decorating a temporary spot. But at the same time, living somewhere lame and bare bones for 3 years sounds depressing as hell ya know?

You spend so much time at home, it's worth making the place feel comfy even if it's not forever. And some stuff like posters, minimal furniture, throw pillows etc is pretty mobile to bring to the next spot.

Plus chicks love when a dude has a cozy pad, even if small. Much better than a dump you didn't care about. Shows you have style.

I'd say do some easy, cheap-ish projects if you can. Makes the place feel more yours and will be good for the vibe and mental health too living somewhere more fly. Then just bring the dopest pieces to the next crib when you move out. Small stuff adds up!

Do what you can afford and makes you happy now bro. No need suffering just cause it's short term. Make the most of it!

You’ve been there three years? Do you think you’ll be there three more or longer? I mean that’s a pretty decent amount of time to be somewhere and I think it’s worth making it your own to some degree. I say invest in style you can take with you but let’s not get carried away and do any kind of remodel. But paint and decor, sure why not?

while it is wasted time, if it'll make you more comfortable/happy in the meantime to decorate then i think you should. sometimes you have to make a place your own to keep your mental health in check. while you have no idea when you're going to move, i think it's worth it to just be happy where you're at now. so yeah, go for it.

I think it’s definitely important to make your house feel like a home. For me personally, stuff not being in place and not decorated to my liking definitely affects my mental health
