If you went to college, what were the hardest courses for you?

For me, it was College Algebra and Human Biology. 😵‍💫 I wasn’t a math major or a science major, but those were required credits for me.

I don't know what the hardest was but perhaps the most annoying was Experimental Physics (I think that's what the title was). I took it in Fall 1982. I got stuck with a supergenius lab partner who is now a major astrophysicist. The lab manager was something of an asshole - in particular to me. I was just miserable in this class. So, when I had to take another class, Research Participation, 2 years later, I bagged it and, instead, took Mechanical Engineering Experimentation which, being a lab class (it wasn't really) satisfied my Physics Department requirement for an additional lab class. (Normally Research Participation covered that.) I got a lot out of MEE and don't look back at all. Indeed, it's one reason why I went to the MechEng Department for grad school after I got my BS in Physics.

Maybe semiconductors. The subject matter wasn't too difficult, but the pace was very fast. If you got even a little behind you were in trouble. That class had a very high dropout rate.

Transmission line theory. Parts of it got pretty tricky. But it was a very useful class.

Maybe philosophy. It was difficult because I didn't like it. I'm not good a things I don't like. It was just stupid and nothing but a bunch of mental masturbation.

All the math from Calculus on. I was good at math. But it was difficult because it's a lot of work. You have to do your homework religiously. Those aren't the kind of classes that you can skate on. You'd better keep up with the new stuff, and remember all the old stuff you took over the last several years.

The hardest class I ever took was a course on secular and atheistic views on religion. I did not understand the arguments and was also very bored and depressed. I also had to analyze 90 pages a week of documents and they were all written before the 21st century and contained archaic logic, it was purposely designed to flunk out as many students as possible and over 30% dropped the class and the class is mandatory for your major, if you do not take it, you do not get your degree.

Database... shite was unbelievable. And then came web design... had that kind of "asshole" professor. You know... balding head, white, hair gel for whatever hair he has left, cold son of a bitch... both of those courses that were a giant pain in my ass. And don't remember if I passed 'em... but fk 'em.

Statistics and statistical mechanics. But the reason it was hard is because I couldn't make myself go to class. And the reason I couldn't make myself go to class is because every time I went it seemed like the exact same lectures were being recycled and they weren't covering anything new. This is because the new thing they were covering was terminology which I never imagined would even exist in a math class so I wasn't looking for it. So, when I got the tests and it was basically an English assignment rather than math, I flopped hard.

Critical race theory. I am more of a math and science guy. I suck at writing, but I needed a writing intensive course, and it was the only one available. I didn't realize how many racist beliefs I had until I took it. I've people online say it's anti-white, but when I took it wasn't like that at all. I learned a lot of interesting things, and I understood the importance of diversity and representation.

There wasn't any anti-white propaganda in it. It mentioned class issues, but they never said anything against the white race. I guess I shouldn't listen to bullshit online and see for myself.

Well I only went to community college for a year and the hardest classes I took were my math classes because I'm terrible at math and my mom kept suggesting I get a tutor but I didn't want to waste anyone's time with my terrible math skills plus the tutoring my school offered didn't work with my schedule

As an Engineer - the Math and Statistics courses were the most difficult. I am presently in Education and have vowed NOT to be like those tenured Professors who torture the students because they can. Somehow I gravitated to the Physics courses (pun intended).

It was a 301 course that was an Introduction to Management. The professor was Savlonic and absolutely horrible. He had been forced out on a sabbatical prior to coming back. Took the class during the fall quarter and his reputation got quickly passed around, enough so that NO ONE took his class in the winter. By spring he'd been forced back out on another sabbatical, which is what his entire plan was. The only thing that saved him was tenure.

I thought he was gone until I saw him show up at graduation.

I only went for two years, so those were not difficult... can't say about the last two years, which I assume would have been more complicated but I would not know... as I quit it halfway, and for different reasons too... lol

College courses were easy. I do physics research. Till now the hardest topic is General Relativity and its math associates. It's the hardest subject to understand its actual depth. I can vouch for that only 10-12 people in the whole world may understand that. Most professors in top unis even have no actual clue about the depth of the subject.

Me too. Specifically Intermediate Algebra (had to take it THREE times) and dropped out for a semester because of it. That was in community college and in university it was GIS.

I took a course called Discrete Mathmatics in grad school. It was hard. I also took a year of a programming language. I took C++ and I actually hired a tutor to help me.
