Why would a teacher google a student?

We had a seminar meeting (master thesis) at the university. Our professor searched something online and we saw his research history. He had googled me. Why on Earth, what do you think he was looking for? I really doubt he would use Google for searching anything related to my previous studies…it was so weird. Any thoughts?

Possibly searching for any extra credentials, papers you may have published, programs you're involved in, etc.

One of my professors made a point to search us in front of the class. Talking about how, as business majors, anything we're attached to can negatively impact our professional careers. That it's the job of any company we aspire to join to search is and make sure we're a good fit. One girl used the same email she had listed on her resume as her OF account. Oh that professor lit her ass on fire!

Possibly to make a point if anything bad was found online since a lot of potential employers search employee candidates before hiring them.

Exactly and that’s why it kind of bugs me. I have no idea what he was looking for. I’m neither the greatest nor the weakest student - just average with no problems whatsoever. There is no reason he would have needed to do a background check or doubted my identity or something. He has taught some courses earlier and he knows who I am (the groups are small) It’s just so damn weird.
