What job/career do you think would’ve been perfect for you if things had turned out differently?

I have a keen interest in the mental health field and I wish to be a therapist. People have said that I'm a good listener and an empathetic person so I think this line would be perfect for me. However I'm currently in a job where its leaving me emotionally and physically drained I wish to get myself educated and pursue a career path in mental health field

The medical field is a great choice. It’s what I would’ve done if I could do it all over again. It is difficult to pursue an education while working F/T. I don’t know how I pulled it off when I was younger. I felt rushed and majored in something I didn’t want. I’ve been looking into tuition-free programs abroad (Europe) that offer university-managed housing. Perhaps that could be an option for you too.

If the industry hadn't brought in all the technology that they claim makes trucks safer, I'd still be out there. I love to drive but I hate for the truck to do things that only a stupid person would do.

I don't see it as lucrative anymore. You could have a driver hauling six rolls of paper, standing on their ends and weighing 7500 pounds each. A driver can pull out in front of your truck from a driveway and your truck can immediately apply the brakes without considering whether the idiot is on his accelerator. This could cause all the rolls to slide together, thus forcing some to move to the side of your trailer. Since they are staggered left and right anyway, they push against the walls tearing rivets out and trying to escape the trailer. If they do, someone could die. This is something I learned on one of my last loads. Equipment is getting built lighter and weaker to be able to carry heavier loads for more profit. It just isn't safe out there. I drive a forklift now in a meat packing plant. It's a better life than constantly worrying.

Yeah, one of my good friends made it to the NFL, BARELY hung on for like four years, then finished up with maybe like 7 years in Canada. He was so much better than me, and I was a pretty decent player if you were just selecting from random humans, but he was a Division I college player. From that more specified pool, I’m way lower in the rankings, haha. But it really made me appreciate how good the NFL stars are, because my boy could barely get on the field in that league, and when I had chances to play with him, he was phenomenal. He was a pretty good player up in the Canadian league too.

So yeah, real competitive field, so the odds of even making it, let alone succeeding, are so slim.

It’s something I’ve been asking myself for a while and I simply wondered if others share the same thoughts. It's also a chance to gather ideas or inspiration from what others may be doing (or want to do) to achieve their goals. You can learn a lot from other people’s experiences.
