Here are some estimates for average programmer/mathematician salaries in the Netherlands and Germany with 3 years of experience:
Netherlands:
- PHP Developer - Around €50,000-€60,000 per year
- Java Developer - €55,000-€65,000
- Data Scientist/Mathematician - €55,000-€70,000
Germany:
- Software Engineer/Programmer - €50,000-€65,000
- Web Developer - €45,000-€60,000
- Data Analyst - €50,000-€65,000
- Research Mathematician - €55,000-€70,000
The exact salary would depend on the exact role, location, industry, and specific skills/experience. Salaries in bigger cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich tend to be higher. International companies also pay more on average.
Hope this gives you a general idea! Both countries offer pretty good salaries for tech/math roles. Most people I know who moved there were able to afford a nice lifestyle on these salaries. Let me know if any other questions!
That can't be answered with a single figure. Within Germany, there are significant differences in salaries from one region to another and between large, medium, and small companies, as well as by industry. What is your educational level?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a Master's in Computer Science. Do you know where I could find this information in more detail (average salaries by region and size of company)? I am thinking of starting working remotely (full time) for a company abroad and have found a few companies that seem suitable in these two countries. But I am a bit lost as to what to say my expected salary range is if/when they ask.
I used to work for a German software company (not as a programmer), and I would be very surprised if they would hire you on a salaried basis at their local levels for completely remote work. Typically, a German company will offer you significantly less if you are located in a country with a lower cost of living. I'd also be surprised if they would give you the highest-level work if you're remote.
You may want to talk to a recruiter. German companies love to keep salaries down as much as they can, also for programmers.
What country do you live in?
