Did you ever get hired by a manager that disliked you at first glance?

Yes I have. A few times. They like to hire people they dislike just so they can be in charge of them. I had a manager who clearly didn’t like me but she had no choice but to deal with me because there were multiple managers in the interview.

It was a basic clothing store so I didn’t care all too much, but the way I noticed is there was a disconnect when we’d talk, like it was a bother for me to ask anything. Anyways, I ended up getting fired as per her word that I was being unproductive. No, I wasn’t being unproductive more than anyone else working, if all of my coworkers were on their phone, I was singled out on mine, and knowing me, I’m going to question why no one else in the store is getting reprimanded for being on their phone and the response was always “well, we didn’t see it” or “we will speak to them too” BullSHIT.

Good riddance to that job.

So you think the other managers in the interview liked you?

I have pretty good interview skills, so I’d assume so, and she’d probably most likely still hire me if it was just her. It seemed like her issue was she was trying to tell me what to do in a condescending way but I wasn’t listening because it was obviously a power trip for her. Whereas the other managers were professional.

But why did she dislike you in particular?

Because I didn’t bow down to her. Like I said before, she was on a power trip and I didn’t listen. I questioned the stuff she said instead of ignoring it. Like one time she complained about me not folding a shirt properly even though it was my first day, and I had to remind her of that and she went silent. I ended up asking a different manager and they took the time out to show me, vs. her intentionally setting me up to fail.

I was also 19 and she was in her 40’s. Could be jealousy, could be insecurity whatever. In the job I’m at now I’ve never dealt with people like that in upper management so it was obviously a HER problem.

Jealousy and sometimes racist too

I’m pretty, smart, dress nice from head to toe. Nice foot west & pocket books as well as top of the line perfume. And most importantly I wear diamonds & pearls. That’s too much for them. So they would make comments and make up shittt to turn the boss against me or other employees. When I loose my job due to jealousy, I take their pathetic ass to court and win. Now when I have racism and or jealousy same shitt only then Division of human rights. Basically I have to look like them ugly poor can’t dress be a dumbass and racist them i will be employed of the year smh chuckling NEVER! I will continue to be who I am too bad green monsters~

Not sure lol

But it was for a higher paying position.

I then interviewed for a different position where my manager was a different person and he gave me the job. The first manager that declined saw my work ethic and eventually I ended up being offered working for him.
