I’ve inquire my company about the number but they claim they do not have. I have look them up to see if they have one and it shows that they have been e verify since 2014. Dude that's super sketchy of them! A few possibilities:
- They could be lying to avoid running your info through e-verify cause maybe something won't check out legally with your status. Trying to fly under the radar.
- Possible they screwed up in the past and don't wanna admit it if running you would flag past errors. Covering their ass.
- Weird they claim no number but records show they've been registered since 2014. Def dodgy behavior.
I'd definitely push back and don't let them fob you off. Be like "look I checked and see you DO have a number. I need it for my papers so please provide the info or I may have to alert the proper authorities." Throw down some legal jargon to make them sweat.
Worst case maybe loop in a lawyer or your international advisor at school. This close to deadline they probably trying to take advantage and hope you don't realize in time. Stand up for yourself though, you got this!
