Anyone in medical billing and coding willing to give and tips or advice. I will be starting next month to get a certificate on it. Any tips, advice on how to prepare for it. Will be doing it online

Girl I took some medical billing and coding classes a few years back - it was super interesting! Here are a few tips that might help as you get started:

- Make sure to pay close attention to all the different codes and what they mean. Having a solid understanding of ICD, CPT, HCPCS codes is so important. Flashcards really helped me memorize them all.

- Get comfortable looking at medical charts/records early on. Being able to navigate those and pull the right info will make the billing process much easier.

- Ask your instructors lots of questions! Billing can seem complicated at first but they want you to learn. Better to ask than be confused.

- Try practicing sample billing claims as much as you can. The hands-on experience of putting codes together and submitting them was really helpful for me.

- Don't be afraid to use online coding resources too as a supplement. Quizlet, random scenario generators, etc. Make it fun!
