Having legit, but short definitions. As well as making your own. Then going over those.

Maybe writing it (the information) in different ways. (Knowing how to explain it means you grasp the information).

Reading it a few times. Once with the time to focus. Another time with calming music and chewing gum. Highlighting any rewritten or typed info and reading it that way as well. Yellow helps us remember.
(Chew that same flavor during an examination).

    Flash cards could help.

Try to find things you can associate with simple terms.

Things to think of when you see that information. For example.

When I was learning the periodic table, I would think of Iron feet 🦶 when I saw the symbol Fe because I imagined it spelled Feet 👣 and in the Bible there was a giant statue built for some king and the different body parts had different metals. At the time, I forgot what the feet were built out of, but I imagined it was iron lol that’s what I believed, anyways. It was back when I was a believer and it was the king Nebuchadnezzar. (If anyone cares for it lol).

I think I associated Au (Gold) with a rapper who wore like gold jewelry (any Rapper) and he’d just get mad or whatever? So he’d say “aye you!” And wanna talk for some reason lol (real thug life type shizz).

    • So any time I saw Fe, I said “iron feet” and remembered the statue, and any time I saw Au, I said “aye you!” And I remembered the rapper.

I believe another one was pb and I would think of the show/channel I seen as a kid: ‘pbs kids,’ and I said their job was to lead kids to have good habits (because some of their shows were educational or moral). I said lead as (leed), but once I just wrote that word down, I would know it was lead as in (L• Ed).

Make sure to get good 8 hours of sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast. Nothing grandiose, but essential. Maybe any brain foods while studying? Stay hydrated.

Find out what’s your learning style
Utilize your learning style techniques to improve your studying habits and routines
Choose a setting you’d feel more focus rather it’s quiet or medium to high volume noises
Put electronics away for less distraction

    Ex1
    I’m a visual learner
I use color codes to high light and take notes, sticky notes, sometimes, reread things and do abit more research to see demonstration or more knowledge lol
I prefer being in a quiet space or at least with headset on if I’m in public
I need to be in a place to feel focus and less distraction including comfortable body positions

Where head phones an listen to ambient music. There are many different kinds.

Right now, I am listening to a new 12-hour song just uploaded to YouTube:

    I particularly like this channel:

And play this song overnight quite often:

Wearing headphones and listening to harmless stuff like this leaves you with just you, your eyes, and your thoughts with no disruptive auditory influences.

I wish they had this stuff when I was in college.

ALSO, make a "cheat sheet". We were often allowed those in college. Looking back, I realize why they let us do that: One reason is that it actually made us study the material since we had to read it and go over it and understand it before we put it on the cheat sheet. Indeed, I did this for Circuit Theory and Electronics 41 years ago and it was an epiphany. I kicked ass in college after that.

don't study in bed. Your mind and body asscoicate bed with sleep. For math or science, play faint baroque classical music in the background.
    NOTECARDS!
When you start a new unit or chapter, take notes, study the notes that night, then repeat each day you have that class.
ASK QUESTIONS OF YOUR TEACHER/PROFESSOR! If you don't know, ask! It's their job!
HAND WRITE YOUR NOTES! Even if you type them up during class, hand write them again. Studies show we remember things were write longer than things we types.

Currently in grad school and working PRN!

Biggest thing I've found is organization. Schedule and organize your studying to be efficient and effective.

For example, schedule yourself to study for 2 hours. One on this lecture, then 30 minutes on the next lecture, then maybe 30 minute review of the previous lecture.

In undergrad, I found myself trying to cram info into my brain without a plan then getting overwhelmed and stressed out. Then my 2nd year, I started this and it got a lot less stressful. And I felt like I knew the information better.

    A couple things:

Set a habit of studying regularly. An hour a day for a week will do you way better than 7 hours in one day.

Spaced repetition is a useful trick for remembering harder stuff. Look into it for the really difficult concepts.

Setting a 5 minute break every 30-60 minutes will improve your focus drastically, which is the limiting factor to studying.

If you at the very least make a habit of studying (preferably every day) you will truly have no problems learning what you need to.
