I'm not the best salesman in the world, but the people who work for me are even worse ๐.
I'm laughing but this is something that's actually cost me thousands of dollars. I know mean well but I'm just trying to figure out the best way to train everyone to shut the fuck up around clients without making them feel afraid to communicate with me. Which is show they should be talking to in the first place!

Yo man, I totally feel your frustration with the team talking too much to clients. Here's what I would do:
- Have a team meeting and be straight up - tell them chatting clients up is costing money. Lay out exactly how much extra talking is hurting sales. They'll see it's a serious issue.
- Explain your role as the leader - you do the talking, negotiating deals, closing sales. They are support only, not salespeople themselves.
- Set clear rules - no impromptu conversations, always direct clients your way, keep responses brief if asked direct questions.
- Role play scenarios so they get experience shutting it down politely, like "Let me grab the boss man, he's the expert on that." Then make them practice.
- Positive reinforcement too when you see them redirecting well. Praise goes a long way.
- If someone slips up, pull them aside - don't embarrass them in front of others. But be firm it can't happen again.
- And if rules are broken repeatedly, maybe the sales pitch ain't their thing. Find them other roles to shine in.
Keep at it - they'll get trained up if you lead by example and make the expectations clear. Just gotta get them off the client teat, ya know? LMK if any of that helps at all!
