What can i do to prevent fools and crazies from approaching me with their whack conversation at work?

My co-workers... I don't know why but i attract the looney tunes. Im laid back and nice and quiet and I don't know how to stop listening. im too good of a listener.

I want people to stop trying to covince me to do drugs and drink , yes this happens to me AT WORK.

And to stop whining ranting about the boss and gossiping to me

You can't stop them from approaching you, but you sure can impose limits on how long the stay. Give them maybe 3 minutes to get whatever it is, off their chest, then tell them you were in the middle of...(whatever) and you need to get back to it or "you know who" won't be happy with me OR you either.

In other words, set boundaries with them. You're not a doormat. As long as you let them stay and talk, they will. Over time, that's going to get you and them into trouble with the boss because you're yapping on the job and not being productive.

Finally, be more assertive about yourself. If you're not into drugs and drinking, flat out them no, I don't do that. If they get more in your face about it and ask why, tell them again, its something I don't care to do. If they push more, that's when you get on their case in a semi belligerent way and let them know, in no uncertain terms, you're not doing that and never ask you again about that.
