So this sounds as if you prefer uneducated people in retail :D
Too many people graduate with too few appropriate jobs at hand.
Add a predominant unwillingness of getting one's hand dirty (counts for ALL).
However: when we aim for an equal-rights togetherness, then it should not matter WHO gets a specific job. Fairness must work in BOTH "directions".

I think if the person doing the hiring wants to hire them that's there choice. Believe it or not a lot of retailers won't hire a person who too educated because they know it's likely just temporary. And the second that person gets a better offer they're going to leave. Granted this comes to how desperate the person doing the hiring is. Retail is always a revolving door.
Employers tend to pick the best candidates for a job. They know these graduates won't be long term but at least they'll turn up for work, will behave appropriately, and won't steal stuff.
