Should adult employees in food and retail be fired?

No, of course not.
Food & retail jobs are not "meant" for teenagers. They are simply meant for unskilled workers to gain experience, earn some more, and contribute.
Although "unskilled" is generally considered synonymous with "teenager" because they have not gone to college, or learned a trade, it is not exclusive to teenagers, either.
There are plenty of adult workers who, through one reason, or another, never learned a skill, or gained an education, which would allow them to work a higher paying job.
Food and retail may be the only thing they are qualified for. Those jobs may be the only thing keeping them from being homeless, or keeping them out of jail. They may be working there to support their families. It may be helping them fund their adult education classes. They could have a disability which precludes their working other jobs.
It's not glamorous work, but it might be the best they can do. They should be allowed to continue working there, and not fired/shunned simply because of their age. At least they are working, and they may very well be doing the best they can.
And didn’t famous people, like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates drop out of school and still became successful? Yet, people have more respect for them knowing they didn’t finish school.
And didn’t Colonel Sanders start his own business at the age of 64? Yet, he’s still really beloved.
So a few exceptions automatically means condemnation for every other adult who still works in food or retail?
I was just pointing out what people have forgotten.
That was a typical mindset years ago when other types of jobs were more plentiful for adults.
I surely wouldn't want to put someone in a bad situation by telling them that they're too old to work a particular job.
The economy is going to need to change in order for that to come about naturally.
With the proper leadership, I think that can happen.
No some adults work in fast food/ retail as a side job cause their main job don't cute it. It also helps old people whose retirement doesn't go far enough. I find fast food/ retail stores that have some adults working in them are ran better. I've had bad service when places like that have only teenagers running the show.
no, that would be taking jobs away from workers who need them.

No.
It's harder for older people to find jobs if they get laid off. It doesn't mean that they don't have skills, it's just that companies tend to hire younger people that they can pay less. So older people are sometimes forced to take whatever jobs they can get in order to pay their bills.
Sometimes older people are more conscientious. Younger people don't have as much work ethic.
No lol. Like you said, if all adults were fired then nobody would be able to work during school hours. Plus you need adults to be managers and run the store.
plus what about adults who are in college? Or who don’t have any education at all? Are they just supposed to fuck themselves 💀
Society expects you to have millions of dollars to earn everyone’s respect. People only care about how much you make.
No, they shouldn’t be fired unless they deserve to be fired and there better be a real good reason for it. I disagree with their only for teenagers. Every time I go through a drive-through everybody’s an adult or when I walk in. Those workers never get a chance to take a break they never sit down. They’re always on their feet constantly busy busy busy some are overworked. I can see by the look on their face’s and they tell me I’m tired today it’s been a long day.
I may go work at a coffee shop when I retire because I like coffee, and I only want to tow around the little planes at the airport in cooler months. It may only be MEANT for college kids but others can do it.
I’m curious, who made retail/food only for high schoolers/college students? Like, who decided that exactly?
Well, inadvertently society. Supply and demand for low skill jobs say they're only going to pay $x/hr. Adults typically won't take that.
So, in a way, society wants everyone to become billionaires.
Or that’s how I take it.
Haha well the IRS certainly does at least.
They aren't meant for teenagers. They just say that so they don't have to pay them or provide any benefits.
Obviously not, that is discrimination, and what is with what you put in the question update. They would struggle to fill all the roles with teenagers. In my local supermarket they would have a bad staff shortage if they did that.
Kids should not be working, they should be kids and focusing on school.
What if they want to earn their own money?
then they could work part-time.
I mean, that’s basically all they can do. It’s illegal to have minors work anything past that.
except many states are making it legal for minors to work full time and work on school nights.
How is that possible?
Nope why fire someone willing to work only thing I'd say is to give them a living wage
You left out facilities that provide equipment, ingredients, and sanitation to restaurants. Very important jobs!
Adults are more dependable and there are help wanted signs up everywhere
Huh? WTF are you talking about?
You have such weird ideas.
I was simply asking.
No. Way. I've worked retail. for 37 years.
That's crazy talking.
I can't believe you just said that🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I mean, society has made it a rule that only minors can work food and retail and not adults. Because, if an adult does, they get looked down upon. I’m just going by what I’ve heard people say 🤷♀️
That's not true I have a friend that's a manager in McDonald's and we don't loom down at him
No. Absolutely not.
So stupid lol
