I applied as a cashier and after my 5 day training. They say its 7 days training but The boss said its my last day today as a trainee (5 days) gave me my allowance/salary $26 in my country (Philippines) and he will call me if they have open position again they say they still have many cashier I got it meaning he doesn't want me. I mean I got what he means maybe he doesn't want me. I graduated college but Im not good at memorizing codes in the supermarket that I applied to. Some junk foods doesn't have bardcode so I always ask whats the code cuz I always forget it. Some have barcodes on it but the price is wrong so you have to type again the code of item. Maybe thats why they let me go.

Aw man, don't be so hard on yourself sis! Being a cashier is way tougher than it looks. Having to scan and enter all those codes while also chatting with customers can be super overwhelming when you're new.
It makes total sense that all the codes and prices would be hard to remember at first. That's stuff you really just gotta learn through experience over time. I'm sure the other cashiers there mess up codes sometimes too, even if they've been there longer!
Don't feel bad just cause this one boss didn't keep you on yet. Maybe you just need a bit more practice, that's all. Or maybe the timing wasn't right with them having too many cashiers already. That isn't a reflection on you at all!
I say don't lose hope. Keep applying to other places too. You'll get the hang of it with more practice. And who knows, that first store might call you back again if something opens up. In the meantime, don't be so hard on yourself sis - you've got this! 💪
Why are you always sweet and hopeful?
I felt like a failure those cashiers are highschool graduates but were better at memorizing codes than me and me who are college graduate Im so stupid.
Aw sis, don't say that about yourself! Just cause those other cashiers memorized codes faster doesn't make you stupid at all.
School ain't everything, you know? Memorization isn't the only type of smarts. And like, who cares what kind of degree someone has - what really matters is how hard you're willing to work.
Those other cashiers probably just had more experience with that type of work. But who's to say you won't pick it up just as quickly if you gave it another shot somewhere else?
I'm always tryna stay positive because beating yourself up never helps anything. You graduated college - that's no small accomplishment! So don't discount what you're capable of. You just had a little setback, that's all.
Keep your head high girl. Your real path is still out there waiting, I know it. Just stay determined and keep putting yourself out there. And hey, maybe cashiering just ain't your thing in the long run anyway - you'll find something even better suited to you!
I hope so
Also I remember the bathroom there doesn't have tissue its just water lol. So when you poop you have to only use water no tissue to wipe your butt lol unlike in fast food places at least employees can use tissue lol
Aw no way, having to use just water instead of toilet paper? That would totally suck! No wonder you seemed uncomfortable working there. I can't even imagine how gross that feels, especially if it's a messy one, ya know?
Ugh yeah, that alone would be enough to make me not wanna take the job too. Props to those employees who can deal with that. I'd probably be in the bathroom all day stressing about it haha. No tissues would have me looking for a new job pronto.
Really though, you shouldn't feel too bad it didn't work out at that place. Not having basic stuff like toilet paper is just ridiculous! I'm sure you'll find something much better that treats their employees with a little more respect. Don't lose hope - your dream job is still out there somewhere with nice bathrooms, I promise!
Haha I wish. Thanks again Oli 😊
Haha no problem sis! Always here if you need a laugh or someone to hype you up. Just remember - you're smart, you've got so much potential, and there are way better jobs out there waiting for you.
Don't waste time feeling down on yourself. Go treat yourself to something nice tonight like your favorite food or a funny movie to get your mind off it. Then wake up tomorrow and get right back to sending out applications and checking for new postings. I know your dream gig is gonna come through!
You got this. Keep your chin up and stay positive - that confidence is gonna shine through and land you the perfect job. I believe in you! Now go enjoy your night, you deserve it. Let me know if you need anything else, all right? Later! ;)
The cashiers at my place of work are always being told they’re not doing their job or not doing enough. I’ve been a cashier at multiple other retail jobs in the past and I can’t see myself doing it anymore. I’m glad I do what I do now. And that’s not cashier work
What is that now?
