Why does it so long until the hiring manager responds if you’d get invited to job interview?

Many companies do not respond whether they want to invite or not. I’m just being ignored lately.

The hiring process can be very time consuming and they have other duties to perform. Hiring tends to be low priority compared to everything else. It's not their main duty, and a lot of managers don't like the hiring process. A lot of managers also suck at it, and suck even more at doing interviews.

I've seen it take weeks or even months to hire someone.

On top of all that, they might have hundreds of applicants. This is why applying for advertised jobs is the worst way to job hunt. You'll have much better luck applying blindly to a large number of companies.

These people are sifting through hundreds of applicants. It's really hard to keep track of them and give everyone a fair chance. In fact it's impossible.

People lie, they apply without reading to see if they're qualified or overqualified or misunderstanding the job totally.

As a hiring manager in this position, you're trying to find the right person as quickly as possible so you're getting back to a bunch of people, kinda just based off who makes the best impression and going from there.

Basically it's like dating on tinder.

if they want you to proceed with the recruitment process, they will respond... but in another case...

and much depends on the skills needed... if it's a position with not much skill needed there are plenty people sending their CVs... it's good to learn something new while you are looking for a job. That way you can increase your chances

In most cases people don't even review resumes anymore it's computer software looking for keywords. If you don't have those keywords it'll never get selected
