What do you do for a living and is it something that you do enjoy?

Firefighter/medic, along with working on the safety team at a major road race course from April to Oct.
I hold a high-ranking officers' position now, so I point more than I actually get to participate. I started out as a Truckie, on the ladder truck. I was a big guy, strong, bullet proof so I thought, a 1 man wrecking ball. We got to do all the fun stuff, make entry, ventilate, find the fire so the engine company could put it out without wrecking their manicures so they would look good on the news, made the rescues, we did it all. I've earned where I am through hard work, endless classes, hold many degrees and still take continuing education courses. I try to pass on as much knowledge as I can to the younger pups coming up, on how to survive, cancer now is a very big thing, how to have a good life outside of the station. I've pretty much been through it all, so I speak from experience. Kind of like a father figure. I still love what I do, and just knowing that I have made a difference in so many people's lives to me is worth all of the hell I have been through. The trust you build up over the years is amazing, we don't even have to ask for help, someone is always there to lend a hand, we are a big dysfunctional family. It's not a job, it's what I am, it's what we are. Why I answered the call I will never know, maybe it helps make up for all of the crap I did when I was younger. I was not headed in a good direction. All I know is that looking back I would have not changed a thing.

I’m an electrician by trade, and currently working as an instrumentation and analyzer technician. I’m an excellent electrician. Probably the second best i’ve ever known. This work has been challenging because i gave up the security of being expert at my craft for learning something new and valuable. I’m learning quickly though. And being more well rounded will ultimately make me much more effective and valuable regardless the line of work i choose.

i'm a student, i mostly don't have the time to work during the year so i work during the summer doing teaching assisting and exam invigilating, it was fun, a little stressful at times, and exhausting waking up at like 6 and coming back home at 5 lol
