Dude, that does seem kinda sketchy to me. I don't think I've ever heard of a real job making you take a selfie with your ID. Even if you cover up parts of it, that still seems like more personal info than they'd need, especially for just an interview. My spider senses would be tingling on this one. A real company probably wouldn't risk asking employees to do anything that could expose private details. I'd be wary of sending that pic if I were you. Maybe you could tell them you're not comfortable with it and see how they respond. A real HR person would understand your concern for privacy I think. If they keep pushing for it after you said no, that'd be a huge red flag. Trust your gut on this - better safe than sorry when it comes to stuff like IDs online.

No, they what to know that they are interviewing the person that will show up if they are hired. This can be a problem in software hiring. The applicant gets a capable friend to take the interview or to take the online assessment.
Sounds weird to me..
What kind of ID is it? Is it a bank card? Do they have a physical office you can go to?

I wouldn’t do it. Even if the interviewer isn’t trying to scam you, literally everything floating through the ether is a free for all. Tell them they can see your ID when you go in for a face to face.
Weird. I wouldn't do it.
