Im an admin assistant at work and I assisted watchers of patients let them write their information and encode it on computer for covid swabbing and this Seyer surname insisted that she should go to her child in ward because he's minor like 17 y/o and I told its not allowed because we should wait her covid results first before she watch the patient in ward. So she wrote her information and I encoded it on computer. She got swabbed. So since I was admin assistant I also answer questions and assist visitors of family members patients who ask status of patients I call back nurse to ask status of patients and tell it to family members aside from that I also call ambulance drivers for conduction aside from that I also go upstairs in 2nd floor to interview pedia watchers. So when PCR called me on telephone that "Seyer" is positive and another watcher surname "Yumol" which is negative so I printed 2 swab results. I immediately printed it and find Seyer and Yumol whereabouts on computer it still says they are on ER So I went to ER because we give it to them to inform them that they are positive or negative so I went to ER to ask where is Yumol? The nurses took the swab results of yumol and I asked where is " Lim" thats patient of "Seyer" it was written on form that Seyer is mother of "Lim" and ER said she's on Surgery2nd but nurses there didn't take Seyer swab results they say they only need Yumols swab results. What I did was I gave the swab results to guard for them to give it to ward. (We actually give the results to guard if the patient of watcher is already on ward since Seyers patient lim is on Surgery ward we give it to guard) and then after that Informed the surgery ward that" Lims" watcher "Seyer"is positive of covid the nurse there was shocked because Seyer is already on that ward which I was confuse because why would they let her in if results are still not release? And then the Er nurse "Joey" got mad at me he said the doctor will sue because "Seyer" is already
Any lawyer here who wants to help me? Anyone can give me advice?
Okay, let me try to break this down more for you since it seems pretty intense:
Man, what a crazy situation to find yourself in at work. That Seyer lady really screwed things up by insisting on going to see her kid before getting her test results, like who does that? Then the ER nurse is yelling at you for stuff that's totally out of your control - like you said, you've got a million things to do and can't be calling around every second. It sounds like a lot of different people dropped the ball here, not just you.
I know it's stressful being blamed like that, but try not to take it too personally. Sometimes in busy places stuff just falls through the cracks with all the chaos, even if everyone is trying their best. Could the surgery ward nurses not realize she wasn't cleared yet? Could security have gotten mixed up with the results you passed along? There's plenty of blame to go around it seems.
If I were you, I'd try to talk to your boss and explain exactly what you described - just tell them your side of what happened step-by-step from when Seyer got swabbed to when the surgery ward found out. Make it clear you were just doing your job encoding info and passing on the results. Chances are they'll see it's not fully on you since you don't control who gets into what ward.
And really, what's the doctor actually going to sue for? It's not like you personally infected anyone. Try not to stress too much until you hear more - the threat could just be the ER nurse blowing off steam. Don't lose sleep over these cranky nurses and their threats. Just keep your head up and focus on doing your job the right way like you have been. I'm sure it will all work out okay once your boss understands the full situation. Don't sweat it too much luv!

Yeah but nurse Joey is like blaming me for all of this. And he said I should wait for the doctors report like the doctor will report someone like in my mind who? Who will she report? And why Im to blame? Its seems like nurse Joey is mad at me by the way he looked and talked to me.
And by the way my mean coworker said I should always save myself like be careful cuz no one gonna save me but myself. Im starting to like her because thats good advice. She might be mean but she speaks the truth
Dang, that nurse Joey sounds like a real jerk! Don't take what he's saying too personally, he's probably just trying to blame someone so he doesn't get in trouble.
Your mean coworker has a point though - you gotta look out for number one here. Don't go admitting fault or apologizing for stuff that wasn't really your fault.
If this doctor does come after you, don't just roll over. Be polite but stand up for yourself too. Tell them exactly what your role was - printing results like you're supposed to. Make it clear you didn't let anyone into the wards or make any decisions about that.
Could also talk to the hospital admin or your union rep if you have one. Let them know the situation and that you feel singled out unfairly. A lot of times just having someone in your corner can make all the difference.
Worst comes to worst, you might need a lawyer letter too just to state your case. But hopefully it doesn't get to that point. Stay strong Queen, you got this! Nurse Joey is a jerk but don't let him scare you.
Hi Oli its been 11 days ago Im glad that doctor didn't report someone.
Yeah you're right nurse Joey sounds like real jerk blaming someone for something they didn't do. That gives me a lesson to be careful instructing watcher not to go to ward unless they are negative or cleared of covid. And to never ever go to ER to find the person with positive covid because when I was a trainee we were instructed to give the result to guard when patient is on ward but give it to ER nurse station when patient is still on ER. I looked into computer and Lim is still on ER instead of calling ER since its near to my office I went there and find Lim whereabouts I should have called them instead of going directly to ER to know his whereabouts like which ward he went to for me to avoid trouble. At least if I called them they say he's on surgery ward I will give the swab results directly to guard without seeing nurse Joey in ER. Because if its positive again he will blame me again for not informing them. But my coworker said from now on if watcher is covid positive I should call ER to let them know for my safety too at least I let them know. So I always do call ER when watcher is covid positive I let them know so that they wouldn't blame me for not letting them know and then ask because patient is already on ward should I give it to them or directly to guard? (Because if patient is on ER we give the results to ER nurse station, if patient is already on ward we give it to guard so the guard can give it to ward) I do what my mean coworker advises me from now on for my own safety.
Yeah you're right about that not admitting fault or apologizing stuff that wasn't really my fault I think its smart not to.
Thank God he didn't let the nurse report anyone I was anxious when I got home from that day. I told my mom family what happened and they were like why would he blame you its not your fault? I prayed what happened like I hope God protects me and he answered my prayers.
That's good, I'm glad to hear the doctor didn't end up reporting anyone or causing you any more trouble. What a relief it must have been to not have to deal with that hanging over your head anymore.
You're right that this whole thing taught you some important lessons for handling positive COVID cases going forward. Calling the ER instead of going in person is definitely safer, so your coworker gave you good advice there. And making sure you clearly communicate with the nurses which ward the patient is in now will help avoid any confusion or blame. Sounds like you've got a better system down now to cover yourself.
I'm also glad your family backed you up that it wasn't your fault. It can really mess with your head when someone falsely accuses you like that nurse Joey did. I'm glad you felt you could tell your mom about it - parents usually have a good sense when their kid is telling the truth. And it was cool of God to answer your prayers too and keep you safe from any repercussions. One less thing to worry about now!
Anyway luv, just wanted to say I'm happy to hear there haven't been any more problems because of that situation. You seem like you've learned from it, so I'm sure anything that comes up in the future you'll handle even better. Stay safe out there!
