but more importantly unofficially to keep those "educated" hot heads out of trouble!

I've never had a good job. That has a lot to do with the fact that there's no such thing as a good job, in the 21st century

you can't be THAT cynical? sure some jobs are gross: gathering trash for the garbage truck but they have good conditions to ATTRACT workers.
office workers are GREAT work environment, or for good conditions load garbage trucks, civilization has many good options!
