How hard is it to break the money ceiling in a short period of time?

My dad wants to sell the home we live in and then use the money to pay his living expenses until he retires. He has a smaller home he wants to move into after selling our current home. I don't like this idea totally cause our home is gorgeous and I've had a positive experience living here. So I considered paying off the mortgage on all our properties so that my dad will not need to sell the home to cover his retirement living expenses after he leaves his job. What this means is that I might have to earn over $500,000 before he retires and decides to sell the home, which is not a long time away if things go according to plan. I have a plan that could help me do this in a very easy and low effort way, but not sure if my plan will actually work. I've been working on a project for years and I think it could be very lucrative.
