On the one note it feels like a trick and “twisty thing” on words to seem smart and make people feel dumb or at best reconsider and/or seriously evaluate their choices.

Could’ve been a true realization that was personal to the quote originator, and yet something they felt needed and should be shared with the world/society. Which is great. But also a bit obvious in summary. Yet people should also see it from this perspective.

Adding to this I’d say yeah, I would answer “nothing,” IF I weighed them and saw nothing wrong up until then, and the moment of being asked if I am loyal to them, or what would make me withdraw my support.

But if I happened to notice red flags and stuff against my character and judgement- you know, things of that nature to occur, then I’d withdraw my support, and if asked, I’d list those wrongful things I had seen.

But on the other note, I can definitely see this as emphasizing to have standards and follow them than being swayed and following people off of pure, unchecked emotion. Be intentional. Logical/sensical minded. It also prevents and lowers chances of manipulation or straying from values when being loyal to values, other than exclusively people. It keeps us true to who we are and strive to be.

My initial feeling towards this was true surprise, realization, appreciating, and agreement. I think this is a great quote. It just had me iffy in processing it. Everyone will have to decide if they will wait until they see red flags, or have the list in hand, and if someone crosses out on them, then that person can withdraw the support ahead of time. At the same time I feel that withdrawn support should be a last resort. We should find resolution and build bridges. Why would withdrawing support ever be a good thing? I say support can be shifted in to different things and take on different formats. It can change from financial to a sort of personal intervention type of support, if the one (s) being endorsed were abusing the financial support. Clearly they’d need some type of help and aid in a different form, so it can be of better use to them and others affected by them; vice needs and etc.

I think the usage of support was misused and should be replaced with agreement. We don’t have to agree with everyone. But everyone should receive supportive care in various ways as humanity, so we can all thrive. That’s the true winner to this quote, but it doesn’t need to be that- support for all. That’s ideal and paradisial (made up word: paradise-like lol). So if withdrawing support is the human solution to stopping negative forces and all “ “. Then… this quote should be backed up and considered when making such decisions. I haven’t stopped to reread all of this that I just said and I have a small feeling it won’t make sense, but it did to me 😂. It’s late; I may have to come back to this, but I wholeheartedly stand by what I think I said here. Nice quote and I say it could certainly be improved. It has definitive potential. And possibly mortal limits associated/attributed to it.

A bit lengthy and overcomplicated in my opinion, and that's coming from the guy that usually gives lengthy and overcomplicated opinions. Just my personal take, but I think that the best quotes are usually short and to the point. They should hit home right away.

However, I do agree with what he's saying entirely. No one deserves absolute loyalty if they contradict your principles; jeopardize your integrity.

For example, if I was a knight and I "swore my loyalty to my king" even if I respected him at the time due to how I've known him my whole life, if I saw him raping a little girl, I would no longer follow him and likely try to protect the girl.

I guess a more modern example is if I sign a contract to work with a company, assuming that they have good values, but then learn later on that they're exploiting child labour, I'd probably quit if I was able to do so without going into poverty myself pr jeopardize my family's living standards.

Your integrity should be the main thing you choose to follow in life.

considering how racist biden was for integration as kamala harris pointed out, during primaries, and biden said "you ain't black"it is a REAL shame that those who lie they "oppose racism" , should... but don't "withdraw your support."

i guess just a lie not really oppose racism...

but even so, it is a real shame those biden supporters support "no matter what, low approval rating but support anyway like NOTHING will budge",

those should adopt THIS QUOTE to oppose biden for much racism.

I think it would be otherwise valid because if you are going to follow someone, its good to be critical about it, but its ultimately a redundant perspective, because individualism is just better, so following a leader at all just isn't the best option.

People are too obsessed with social castes. I personally don't think that way of socializing works, be it in highschool, a company, a scientific field, a competative sport/gaming team, or a government.

I prefer debate, equality, merit, and logic, a social system where no one calls the shots unless they, at that moment, make more sense and its urgent. But at that point you're just agreeing with them (not so much "following" them). As in you both would be leading in the same direction.

We need less leaders and more co-pilots.
