Why do people keep trying to deny Global Warming is even happening, and why deny man is causing it?

About an hour ago, MSN deleted one of my posts about an Antarctica article, claiming that I violated their terms of service, which was a lie. I showed that Antarctica is melting faster and faster, even though the article on their site falsely claims it's slowing down its melt rate. In reality, Sea Level Rise has been nearly doubling every decade for the past 40 years. As a matter of fact, the Gulf of Mexico has risen FIVE inches in the past 10 years alone, while the Global Average has risen just over 2.5 INCHES in that time. The rate of sea level rise is exponential because the rate of melting of land ice is exponential, and the positive albedo feedback is also exponential. I expect Sea Level to rise by about 40 to maybe even 80 inches in the remainder fo my natural life expectancy, because it is exponential and doubles roughly ever 10 years.

For some reason, MSN denied the fact Antarctica was over 50 degrees above normal temperature for this time of year just a few days ago, even though one of their own articles showed that to be the case.

I’m with @exitseven on this the climate is warming, but it’s been warning since the late 1890’s, and before that it was cooling. the planets climate is cyclical, we had many ice ages, and the earth warmed up 10,000 years before fossil fuels were even discovered! So what caused the earth to go from a lust tropical paradise to a ball of ice, the warm up on tis own, and eventually cool down, until we had another ice age? (We’ve had a lot of ice ages) There is a GREAT paper by Don J. Easterbrook, in Evidence-Based Climate Science, from 2011 that explains it perfectly. The issue with modern alarmist climate science is that 1) it judges the earths climate based of a model that only goes back to the late 1800’s. and 2) there is a hell of a lot of money in research that might save humanity from and existential threat. There is literally Zero money in saying everyone relax, we will be fine! I faced this when I wanted to do my masters thesis on how the US is anything BUT a rape culture, that over 90% of men would rush to protect us if we were being assaulted, and of the 10% who would not rush to help most of them just want to mind their own business and not get involved, most would never harm a woman! There is great privilege in being a woman, no matter what our race is! However I was told in no uncertain terms that it would never get published, and I would never get any grant money to pay research assistants and pay subjects. Academia lives and dies on getting published. In order for a college professor to get tenure, they need to publish 7 papers in their field of expertise in 7 years. Publish of die is the term du jour on college campuses among professors! Just don’t go against the established narrative.

The earth was a ball of ice over 10,000 years ago, how did it warn up, without SUV’s and fossil fuels polluting? The Medieval Warm Period was from 900 A. D. to 1300 A. D. when global temperatures were apparently somewhat warmer than at present. Its effects were evident in Europe where grain crops flourished, alpine tree lines rose, many new cities arose, also the population more than doubled. The Vikings took advantage of the climatic amelioration to colonize Greenland, and wine grapes were grown as far north as England where growing grapes is now not possible today, and about 500 km north of present vineyards in France and Germany. Grapes are presently grown in Germany up to elevations of about 560 m, but from about 1100 A. D. to 1300 A. D., vineyards extended up to 780 m, implying temperatures warmer by about 1.0–1.4 °C (Oliver, 1973). Wheat and oats were grown around Trondheim, Norway, suggesting climates about 1 °C warmer than present (Fagan, 2000).

Elsewhere in the world, prolonged droughts affected the southwestern United States and Alaska warmed. Sediments in central Japan record warmer temperatures. Sea

surface temperatures in the Sargasso Sea were approximately 1 °C warmer than today, and the polar ice caps were still there, the climate in equatorial east Africa was drier from 1000 A. D. to 1270 A. D. An ice core from the eastern Antarctic Peninsula shows warmer temperatures during this period, and the area we now call Miami was a swamp, but it was not under sea water.

Oxygen isotope studies in Greenland, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Tibet, China, New Zealand, and elsewhere, plus tree-ring data from many sites around the world, as well as arctic ice core samples all confirm the presence of a global Medieval Warm Period. Yet modern climate science says there is no evidence, or that it’s insignificant. but today, 1°C will melt the icecaps and flood Miami to 12 ft under water! Make that make sense. They now claim Co2 is a dangerous, and hazardous pollutant, but anyone with a 9th grade basic science education knows that co2 is literally plant food! and the more Co2 is in the atmosphere, the bigger that plants grow! Look, obviously the climate is changing, Bit the arrogance the arrogance to assume that we are causing it is extremely worrying. 1. Because the people pushing it act like rabid cult members.
2. because in the 1970's it was the next ice age. then in the 1990s it was global warming. Then when there was cooling, it was climate change, as if every day should be the exact same temperature.
3. Solar activity has more to do with global temperatures than man ever will.
4. Whether it's warming or cooling or "change", the solution is always the same. Shut down civilization and live like cave people.
5. China pollutes more than all the others combined, and they always get to skate, and never have any consequences for missing all their targets.

Because I don't believe it and I think its being used as a con to remove our freedoms. Its pretty simple. Its not me denying anything, its me not being convinced its a thing to begin with.

Like alright lets assume global warming is real, would we :
1. Be burning trees or stick to cleaner fuels like gas?
2. Build / occupy houses close to the sea level?
3. Switch to very efficient low emission forms of energy, or spend more fossile fueles building inefficient energy?
4. Dictate all citizens may now have less movement / energy or ensure that the new alternatives are super cheap so that people voluntarily switch over.

Because if its up to me we'd switch to clean thorium energy, plummet the energy market and drive the cost of living way down. They don't do that, they instead are switching my country away from the clean energy we have and now we began burning tree's. How am I supposed to take the people advocating for it seriously if this is the solution they go for? How am I supposed to take the people advocating for it seriously if they buy beach front properties?

How am I supposed to take things as truth if the meta studies claiming that all scientists agree are fake and incorrectly reported? How am I supposed to believe it if there is scientists from organizations like clintel coming with counter evidence thats its not true? How am I supposed to believe the ice caps are melting if that happens every year and grows back? How am I supposed to believe this is happening when the temperature in my own country got overcorrected when moving weather stations erasing multiple heatwaves from the records? How am I supposed to believe it when very similar pictures of what is supposed to be new and rare also happened in the 80's?

None of this lines up for me.

The planet is going through a warming phase, but to try to claim humans are responsible is laughable. More scientific evidence exists showing CO² increases as a result of warming than as a cause, simply because the planet is getting greener as a result of the warmer temperatures, so more plants grow. Plant life releases oxygen while it's alive, absorbing carbon from the atmosphere, then releases CO² as it breaks down.

Carbon dioxide accounts for just 0.04% of the atmosphere. Of that, human activities are more than offset just by the amount absorbed by the great forests across the Northern Hemisphere and the equatorial areas. Natural cycles of temperature have been going on for millennia.

To see the true change in sea levels, visit the multitude of tidal pools built by humans over the last few thousand years that are still at sea level and in use now.

Panic if you want to, but I'm more worried that the WEF "solution" is the depopulation of the planet to around half a billion people. Funny how you don't see any of them queuing up to be the first of the 7.5 billion humans that need to die to reach that figure...🤔

Your problem is that people can actually go in the real world to locations today like the Roman Baths of Sliema (Sliema, Malta) and experience old sea side artifacts that still operate under the same principle at sea level. They haven't been swallowed by the ocean as it hypothetically rises. People understand that changes in Earth's climate happen both regionally and planet wide depending of specific phenomenon. People understand the physics and chemistry of carbon dioxide and while certain occurrences are based on grains of truth, they are often exaggerated for political and economic gain and tyrannical power grabs. If you are honest about what is occurring, people might listen, but honestly is rarely seen in climate change propaganda and thus when you cry wolf too often, people stop listening to bullshit.

The number one cause of global warming is the sun. The sun goes through 11 years cycles with a solar minimum and a solar maximum. The solar maximum is now and it is one of the highest maximum in recorded history.
The core of the earth is a factor. The core has not been spinning and has just begun to start again. That movement generates friction that comes up through the mantle and heats the upper layers. Since 80% of the earth is oceans, the heat is heating the oceans.
In 2022 the underwater volcano erupted in Tonga. It injected water vapor equal to 10% of all water vapor in the stratosphere. Water vapor is a greenhouse gas. The effect is predicted to last 10 years.

Global Warming is happening. It has been a cyclical thing for centuries. . All of a sudden it is caused by fossil fuel and that sellling electric cars is the cure.
During the Indistrial Revolution in the 19th century there were thousands of coal burning plants all over the world. There were no scrubbers and no regulations. Scientists can tell how badly the ir was polluted by analyzing the rings on old trees. The air was a lot worse than it is now and yet there was not a mention of global warming.

Climate change is happening, as it has for millennia, as our planet goes through cold, warm and hot periods. Geologically speaking, we've been in a cold period for several centuries, and it's typical for things to warm up.

The big question is what is causing the climate change. Scientific evidence points out that man is helping it, but it would most likely happen anyway.

This is just more proof that our planet is not static, it changes, despite us humans wanting, and thinking, that it always stays the same.

Haven't checked lately. But you do need to be careful in the facts. About a decade ago the same claim was being made but the actuality was that the Antarctic was increasing in the ice mass overall. The peninsular parts were decreasing in ice.

Sadly when there is advocacy in science, citizens have to ask questions. On your data I would ask how likely is the Gulf of Mexico - an area not well known for melting ice sheets - going to maintain a head of 2.5 inches to the Atlantic which it is open to. Could Gulf of Mexico be in fact sinking?

I have seen so much of a long history of cherry picking of data by both sides I am unwilling to accept any data at face value. I am surprised though that MSN might be adopting a more skeptical and questioning approach.

There's zero evidence to support it, in fact, the opposite. Ice cores going back 250,000 years show climate warming and cooling in regular cycles of 20,000 years, and right now we're at the 20,000 year mark.

A year or a decade or a century of "different" weather does not indicate or prove global warming, and it certainly does not show it is man-made.

People who think global tempuratures aren't rising, already lived in very hot climates, and thus do not see an appreciable difference.

People who think that temp rises are not sped up my people, do not live in cities where cars outnumber trees.

Most deniers are people near or on the equator. Meanwhile its so hot up north that we now have a tornado season.

Governments (it can't just be one country) can go on some plant a billion trees per year program so all the plants can absorb the CO2 and emit oxygen if they think the world is going to end.

If they think it is such a huge threat take rational steps to try and adjust it. It will take decades to see if the average temp. had slightly gone up or down by a half degree.
