Seriously weird employment situation like she wants me to just quit and take away my unemployment?

things are seriously entering the bizarre with this one , been working here almost 2 years but was only part time when i started and had some breaks in between.

but owner of business is really off and seems to have personal problems. anyways my last day of work there was aug 1st and she said at time she wanted me to come in tomorrow aug 9th cause customers coming in to pick up stuff so will see what happens then

so i've been off for over a week and she hasn't said yet if i have any scheduled shift next week either?

i feel like she wants me to just quit and leave but if i just quit i don't have a job and i don't qualify for unemployment here if you quit a job , your technically suppose to be laid off or have no work for a period of time , yet she hasn't given me notice of layoff or said i have no work

i now have a couple shifts next week although its unclear what i'm going to be doing as normally i'd photograph items for re sale but doesn't appear to be anything there so might be doing a clean up which seems odd

I overheard a girl chatting with another woman at work one day and apparently when employers want to remove a costly employee, they try to manipulate their environment to force the employee to quit cause if they lay them off, they have to pay them benefits.

I also believe part time employees can receive benefits in some cases cause I know somebody who worked part time and fought block buster when they shut down without paying her benefits and she was a part time employee.

but in my country the unemployment benefits are paid by the government not the employer , it wouldn't even cost her any money to lay me off and put me on unemployment for a while until there was more work or i found a new job

its like she just wants me to quit so i don't even get the unemployment benefits i should be legally entitled to and would help me through transitition until i found something else
