I have a new job, I want to put in my notice and work the last 2 weeks, but others say go ahead and quit?

Question

The new job is at a supermarket a half mile closer to my house, it is a mile walk to and from my house, and it pays 4 dollars more per hour than my current job. Plus it's just stocking and not having to stock and run register at the same time like I currently do with Dollar General. But, at the same time I still wanna work my 2 weeks to be fair and give them common courtesy

I used to stock this huge Giant Eagle every night, also just over a mile from my house.
about 8 years later I was working at a 7-11 on a huge college campus. I had the graveyard shift, just like at GE but, I also had to run the register. we only got stock on Wed. night so, I only had to deal with that once a week./ It was mostly pretty dead all night until the bars started closing at about 1:00 a. m. and then I'd get a line of college students around the entire store for about 2 hours!! Thankfully, most of them only wanted smokes and they all wanted the same brand so, if they came up to the register with nothing else in their hands, I knew they only wanted smokes! I was pretty fast so, nobody stood in line for more than maybe 10:00.
As for the question, if they weren't assholes, give them 2 weeks. If they were assholes, droop `em any time you like.

When I got a new job I told my employer I intended to work to the day my new job started. I worked to the last day I could. My last day where I started was Friday. My first day at my new job was Monday.

If your contract or local employment laws require notice, offer to work notice. Depending how useful you are, they may waive notice and let you go early, but better to leave on a positive note and not be a jerk about it, even if you can.

Give them a proper 2 weeks notice. I know it is just Dollar General but you never know who will pop up in your life in the future.
