Are high school reunions real?

I'm in Canada but I'm wondering if high school reunions are actually real. Maybe not where I'm from but if your in Canada or the states or another country if you have them. Kinda wanted to go to one but we've never had one.

Real? Sure, some schools do it to raise funds for particular programs -- like the athletics department. I tend not to go to mine because the quality of the school was already not great and has consistently gone down, focusing on non-academic things and not representing their minority populations properly so I contribute to more viable programming to support minority students who are traditionally marginalized.

the ones I've been to... are very real

but... organized by smaller groups too, not the entire generation

Yes but most people these days do not attend.

Its because with social media, more and more people are able to stay in contact with friends from highschool, so there is no reason to put up with all the people you don't want to see, just to hang out with friends you never lost connection with or can just contact online.

Yea that makes sense and is very understandable. I guess back in the day there was no social media so it was harder to stay connected

There was social media when I was in highschool, but almost no one had a computer, and smart phones weren't really a thing anyone had.

The internet then was strickly geek territory.

In new York. My HS does them each decade and I'm a teacher so teachers get invited to all student reunions too
