Should universities be required to admit honorary degrees for those who can pass an exam?

If a kid at 18 knows enough to pass an exam someone else needs 4 years of classes for... shouldn't they go ahead and get their degree? doesn't that make sense? or is a degree all about money

Getting a diploma is not like a marathon with a start and a finish. It's about the process in between, the soft skills that you learn.

I have forever told my graduating high school seniors that college has nothing to do with what you learn in the classroom but everything to do with what you learn about yourself.

If the person can demonstrate mastery on a level equivalent to a B. A. or B. S. he or she should be awarded that by aomwonw, but I can understand why an individual university would choose not do so.

Nope. Giving an honorary degree for just passing a test diminishes the value of years of hard work that students put in.

This is exactly why I went the trades route instead of university. I’ve never understood the need to waste years of time and money to get a degree to learn what you’d pick up in a couple months on the job.
Work & apprentice to learn what you need to know, challenge the exams and you’re set.

This assumes that the exam is perfect, and measures everything that the course and professor would have taught, and that the classroom discussion would have taught, and that the textbook (s) if any would have taught.

No, a college needs to go in front of an accreditation board every few years. If they gave out these kinds of degrees they might lose their accreditation.
