(UK) Can a workplace fire me when they refuse to pay me?

So I worked 6 weeks at this new workplace (elderly nursing home) and witnessed loads of health and safety rules being broken on top of abuse/neglect of the residents. Putting it in writing will take up the whole post.

I have tried telling the manager many times what I witnessed and she would just send me home every time saying “clearly you are too upset to look after anyone”

Come pay day I didn’t get paid and when asked 3x I was told I don’t get paid until I pass 3 months probation.
I stopped turning up to work telling them I can’t afford to not be paid and I will return once I get paid.

Only thing they said is when I return to work I will be having a meeting. A day later I got an email telling me my employment has been terminated. I still have not been paid and owed £1,446.76…. Their reason is that it was my “induction month”
