Will my job fire me for not coming to work on my day off?

Anonymous
My job sucks and I look forward to the weekend because I am completely burnt out from working. My boss has the audacity to ask me to come in on my days off. I have come in every time. But this time which was the first time, I refused to come. She wanted me to fill in on my coworker who felt too sick to work. I found that funny when she has the entire week next week off and I told her I'd cover for her. Honestly I feel overworked and I feel like a slave. I desperately needed that day off when my boss contacted me. My mental health was at stake. And my older brother told me I have the option to refuse to come into work. But I looked it up and saw you can get fired for not coming in. Though, my job has a high turn over rate and I know they can't afford for me to quit. A part of me feels like they're too desperate to fire me. Also the next day I was contacted by my coworker (the one that was sick that day) she was begging me not to quit. I guess me not coming in to fill in for her scared her or something.
