Your "Great" Question: In the US, is *everything* about money?

I moved to the us recently. I talked to a pensioner and she told me how she signed over her home, pension and gave power of attorney to her son on condition she lives with his family until the day she dies. He sold her home and turfed her into an old folks home.
Seems Americans will sue for anything and everything too. Quid pro quo they call it.
