People keep saying how money isn't everything. I mean I get what they are meaning but they keep saying that like it's the ultimate truth and that anyone, who says otherwise must be 1000% lying.
Perhaps it's just me and a handful of other of my fellow "greedy bastards" as you may call them (we call ourselves ambitious instead), who disagree because in practice for the one's and the types like me money is everything.Perhaps it was due to my lowest class upbringing or something of that sort.
But if i tell you, if I had the choice between working as a full time janitor for $100.000/year or a full time software developer for $75.000/year, I'd choose the one paying more (janitor in this case). And some people get baffled when they heard me saying that, being somehow shocked how I find the impulse to choose a job because it pays more that I don't even like. (I say almost no job is fun, so might as well go for the highest paid ones)
In any case, big cash income makes me as much of a happy man as the kids get happy when they unwrap the worlds biggest gummy bear. I mean just look at them how they bloom in happiness with that thingNow replace these kids with me and the gummy bear with a suitcase completely full of money. Same results.
For me money is worthless. I don't give a shit about it at all. I grew up as a rather upper middle class so I ha plenty of money, my father worked endless hours (I only got to see him on week end and even so not a lot), I remember always being depressed, sad and feeling alone nearly 100% of the time. The only time when I was happy was when my father comeback home. After he became unable to work and stayed at home all the time and then I became really happy, we had a lot less money but we were happy. And now we're in debt (pretty big one too) but I realized that buying things never made me happy and I just lose interest in stuff directly after buying it (I have many many clothes items I never used and just throw them away hidden in my closet).
I don't care about being poor cause the things that make me happy have no "relation" with money (but for those who never had money and always felt frustration not being able to buy the stuff they want I can understand the want to have lots of money). In terms of jobs if I could I would be jobless all my life and just live on the "help" of the governement. (in France people over 25 get around 500 euros a months to live, free food and usually free house).
We call them freeloaders. Who does not want to be one? Do nothing and get welfare, that is enough for rent, bills and food. You live and do what you like 24/7.
Money isn't everything - being able to afford life as an adult IS.
My partner has never made amazing money. That was never what mattered to me as a woman. What mattered to me was that we could pay our bills. The reality is, if you work parttime at McDonald's and make a shitty 400-dollar cheque and you want to move in with me? I'm sorry, but in the long run, you are going to become more like my child rather than my partner.
Money matters in the way that you have to be able to function in a society that requires money. It isn't about gifts, it isn't about dinners, it's about: BITCH - can we make it in this world together or NAWH?
If you also consider the fact that without money, you can't live anywhere or eat as easily or drink as easily, technically money is a more reliable way of keeping us alive.
You see homeless people and they don't look happy, if you told a homeless person that money isn't everything, I think they would be quite angry, because you are in a home and can afford groceries and presents for holidays while they sit on the sidewalk hoping for donations.
So I would say that people who say money isn't everything are trying to deny the fact that it is unfortunately everything, even if we try to say it isn't, we spend money just using our electric devices.
But I get what they are trying to say, they are trying to say "As long as we have one another, we don't need money" which is sweet, but also a fantasy that is unfortunately incorrect :(
we want what we don't have. When you have a million in the bank, you'll be happy withwhat it can buy. but then you'll realize it is limited, you can't retire on it, you can't get everything you want, and you'll want more.
then you got 10m in the bank, you can have a lot, but it won't fill you up. maybe it can help you get what you want, but I bet you find that is
better off living to some set of values and goals in life I think. nothing wrong with having resources piled up, just don't think they make you happy... or that anything will:) happy is your state of mind:)
I think its always the folks without money who always say that money is not everything. The rich folks always say that money is important. I think its just a way for poorer folks to feel better about being poor. Money is important. You can't do or get anything in life without money. Neither would you be able to survive.
Well ofcourse money isn't everything there are a lot of things which money can't bring back. Such as our loved ones, our relatives we lost before, we can't bring them back even if we be billionaire. However there is also a truth about being rich and having lots of money.
If you are a rich person you will be most propably more happy than others because u will be a wealthy person who is away from stress and having no stress is equal to have more healthy life. Even if you be sick one day you will have tons of cash to have surgery in most expensive hospitals, by most famous doctors.
Maybe money isn't everything but it's "most of thing"
Money helps, I can't say it doesn't. If a girl sees a guy without a job I can't say that's not a turn off. But in the grand scheme of things, money is not enough keep people at all times, unless you have fake friends or relationships. Money is important but for the fullest and best kind of relationships you need the perfect mix of both
Money is important to have but like anything else if you become obsessed with it, it will ruin your life. You can get to the point where instead of having money, the money has you. Working till you get sick, never getting any time off, not being able to have a relationship , life slipping through your fingers as you pile up money in a bank that you don't have time to spend. At that point you're not really getting anywhere.
It depends on how you get the money. Some people work 80 hours a week just to earn a few more dollars an hour. I mean is it worth it? If you balloon up to 400 lbs cause you have a computer job and work 80+ hours a week. Is that worth it? I read an article about a guy who did exactly just that. Then he quit his job and got an easier one and lost 250 lbs and enjoyed life more.
Well money doesn't lead to happiness, though it makes everything in life a lot easier and makes a great foundation for finding happiness. Money isn't everything in itself, love and sex on top of money is just around everything. At least if you see at the biological needs chart. Those three things can cover just about everything.
That’s a great comparison. Those children will also become quite uncomfortable if they indulge in that entire gummy bear. Probably throwing up sugar left and right. 🤢
