Would you work if you did not need money to survive?

In high school I was chatting with some older people in my extended friends circle and they said they knew a few young guys who sold drugs on the side and they earned so much money they did not have to do anything at all with their lives but he still went to work cause he was bored and he needed something to do.

It might also be a prop set up to help him launder money so people don't ask questions about where he gets cash from if he does not appear to have a job, but still, that stuck with me, that somebody would work out of boredom and not because they needed money.

I find the main reason I try to earn money through my study projects is that I get bored when I am not doing anything with my life. I tried to keep the Jewish sabbath many times, even not being Jewish myself, and I always failed, cause I could not sit around and not work, it made me bored and unfulfilled to not be productive for 24 hours, and most of my female friends are married with kids so I cannot spontaneously call them up to hang out any time I have spare hours to spend, I usually have to book social gatherings ahead of schedule or they will be busy with their kids.
