1 yI actually knew a guy who spoke Latin and because of that he could hold most conversations with some people from other countries who spoke other languages that are derived from Latin. I thought that was so cool! I donโt know how many places teach Latin but it would be cool to learn.

1 yLatin never died out, it just evolved into the various romance languages. Yes they are different, just as modern day English is different from saxon or medieval English.
I'd like to learn Japanese.32 Reply
Asker1 yIt died out, people don't even refer these evolved versions of Latin as Latin anymore so that means it died out lol
Nice finesse tho poppity long stalking ๐
1 yWhatever the language is of the world's reigning superpower. That way it won't be such a chore if they force me to speak it. So I'm hoping the Americans stay on top because I already speak English and I don't wanna learn Mandarin.

Learning Latin is a fascinating choice! While it's considered a dead language, Latin is foundational for many modern languages. It offers incredible insights into history, literature, and the roots of scientific and legal vocabularies. Your interest in creating intrigue with Latin dialogues could certainly lead to unique and memorable encounters. Plus, it enriches understanding of Roman culture and ancient texts, a rewarding pursuit in itself. Embrace this journey; it reflects curiosity and a love for languages!

1 yFrench, I didn't at all appreciate it at school bc I had a horrible class & teacher so just started to hate the language as I associated it with classes that made me feel terrible.
These days I know many people with French accents and hear them speak on the phone sometimes so I started to adore it.10 ReplyIt'd be Chinese, I just want to go to China and act as if I don't understand what they say, we'll try to find a way to communicate then all of sudden, I be like "Guys, I'm tired of English, let's switch it to Chinese now" in Chinese

Asker1 yOut of all the nations you chose to target and mess with the Chinese, there's something you aren't telling me ๐
- 1 y
Haha, I didn't have a lot of choice tbh ๐, I'm fluent in french, I'm learning Deutch, I can learn Spanish, Italian or Portuguese, it wouldn't be as difficult, then I remember how cute Chinese people react when they see foreigners being fluent in Chinese

Asker1 yOh yea I was at one point addicted to those videos, not just the Chinese ones but all of them, I don't know if you remember that black guy that went around with his brother doing this, he mysteriously died, but how do you know so many languages? Spanish too, let's test you, speak Spanish ๐
- 1 y
Yeah, I remember seeing a video about a black YouTuber dying mysteriously, that was him maybe ๐ค
Well I'm not fluent in Spanish, I barely understand but since Spanish and french are kinda similar, I can try to understand, and also uno de mis novios habla espaรฑol, me enseรฑo un poco
Asker1 yOh so one of your boyfriends and tought you, one of your boyfriends is crazy, you got several? ๐
Asker1 ySo you are learning that now?
Asker1 yI've had beef with Mexicans before, I can't say I'm very fond of them but I guess I can't take that out on the enchiladas, and there was a trendy meme of Duolingo basically saying it be wylin ๐
- 1 y
Yeah, I saw the trend, but I swear Duolingo is more present that boyfriends, he even sent me an email for missing a day, and it's not just, "you missed a day" not it's "I know you're a little busy, that's why you didn't do your lesson but it's still been a day since you totally ignored me, come back please, even if it's just for 15 mins" ๐
Asker1 yDuolingo sounds loyal, it just wants you to communicate, you don't communicate anymore canny, you are doing your own thing, not giving any attention, just ignoring without communicating ๐
Asker1 yNah I don't think I've got the patience to learn languages tbh lol
But it's probably gonna play the silent treatment, it won't reply or teach you anything until you apologize, and won't accept your apology until you properly pronounce it in German ๐
Asker1 yThe gender? Oh yea you were the one telling me words in French have genders right? ๐
Asker1 yThis stuff makes me happy I'm not French or that I don't know the language tbh ๐
I can picture you walking up to a group asking โDominus pax probiscus e pluribus unum et tu Brute?โ Then walking away.

Asker1 yI had a connection with a German girl once and she was trying to teach me German, that was hard, I understand one word and then I forgot it, hopefully you have better luck ๐
- 1 y
I think I'm quite good at picking up different languages when I put my mind to it. I learnt ASL along side my goddaughter in order to have better communication with her and I learnt enough Spanish to have a conversation with my friends grandpa (that wasn't totally awful) by just kinda being thrown into it ๐
Asker1 yIf you can pick up languages that's good, you should try learning as many as you could, mostly if I recall properly you like to travel with your friends so knowing languages would be quite the skill to aquire, one day I would like to put your Spanish to the test, if you know how to write it of course, thats where Spanish has its difficulty, letting you know on case you want the challenge, u can look into learninh to writing it.
- 1 y
Yeah definitely can't write it, at least not grammatically correct ๐
Asker1 yGiving up I see, reminds me of myself with German ๐
1 ySpanish... making progress is fucking hard when I have no speaking partner, lol
