On average how many hours a week do you do paid work?

What counts for that? I get paid by publishing not by hour. I have interview (+prep and post work) times, pure writing times, research time, readings to do, emails to answer, talks with the editor, hearings with the police, Seminars, etc.

So Option A: everything that normal person, who would get paid by the hour would probably get paid for: Probably around 20-25h, which is closest to what my pay is. Its a bit more than half-time.

Option B: Thinks I need to do, to actually do my work well. That not directly produce results. Some of them can be things other people do as well but I can't do without. Its fair not counting all of that but its not an option for me to not do them.: 25-35h but thats highly irregular, and can be 5-10 in one week and 50+ in others.

Option C: Including stuff that I wouldn't have to deal with in other jobs. Things obviously connected to my job but not part of my job. WIth that it would probably average in a full time work week around 40h.

My base salaries are for 30 hour per week but I usually end up taking extra shifts or longer hours - so I get paid for the hours I work each month, how much depends on supplements; evening, weekend, night, holiday, short notice etc.
