So I was doing some pre employment stuff for this new job. Background checks and they were waiting on me to get a drug test literally the day before I had the appointment to get my drug test they kept calling me to see if I was going and I told them yes I got it all set up for the very next day. I got my drug test all done and it’s been a little over a week now since I got it done and radio silence haven’t heard from them at all and every time I’ve tried calling and leaving a message for them to call me back nothing. Does this mean I didn’t get the job does it usually take a little bit after you do a drug test to get started? I feel like it’s crazy I’ve been going through the hiring process for this job for almost a month now. Two interviews a two week apart then a week of waiting to here back. To then go get the drug test which took me a week to get done and now another week with hearing nothing at all. I passed up on another job for this one cause it seemed like by this point I pretty much had the job, I do still have a job I’m working at currently but I’m waiting to quit so I can start the new job. I’ll give it a bit more time since these guys seem to like taking there time. But I wish the communication was better they couldn’t stop calling before now it’s radio silent.

It’s very odd to be fair this is a big name company it’s still technically retail but this like high end luxury retail so I get they probably have to be very strict when it comes to who they hire. But all that should be left at this point is me starting the actual job so not having heard from them for a week after getting the test done is just a bit odd to me and especially after I’d called both the HR lady I interviewed with and the manger I interviewed with and left messages for them to call me back yet I’m not hearing from them at all.

But I do think they will have to contact me to let me know if they went with another candidate either through email or a phone call one way or another

Yeah they didn’t hire me and they let me know through an email. So that position went down the drain I think the most disappointing thing about it all is the time and effort a lot of my family though I had the job at this point and so did people on here. And honesty so did I till they went silent for a week. Usually after you get a drug test next thing comes them scheduling your first day of training. But after I got my drug test done i got a copy of my background check and something just didn’t feel right I don't know if it had anything to do with it but the fact everything when quite after that copy wasn’t sent to me after I got the drug test just felt weird my gut knew before anyone.
