There was a guy who sold his business and made $100,000,000 USD when he was 27 years old. But he developed mental illness from not having a job after he became rich and did not need to work for money anymore, so at 32, he went back to work and began innovating new businesses with co workers again.

My dad has heard of multiple people at work who died less than 2 years after retiring from jobs they held for decades, it seems retirement is a death sentence for those that do not have families of their own and do not have a productive activity to keep themselves busy after they leave their jobs.

Not to offend anyone but I think they die from just sitting down all day and are probably 60 and up. And from not working I think it is not rare to develop a mental illness even if young like the male you mentioned. Maybe they also didn't know how to cope with unwanted feelings or emotions. I have several mental issues. I try to keep my mind busy walk often, drive daily, but also important I've been taking high quality vitamins I think everyone needs them.

I have a summer house on an island. It is very nice in the summer but the winters are brutal. There are people that retire there and they usually die after a couple of years because they just sit all winter.

I think it happens. But there are people. That have things to do and we do them... and many would love to take a day rest . but to many things to do
