Did my case manager give me the wrong advice?

I got hired at a fast food place 2 weeks ago. I just havnt started because hr needs to do some stuff on their end. My manager said to text him if I don't hear anything in the next two weeks. Well I texted him a couple of days ago to see what was going on. He hadn't responded for about 24 hours. I called my case manager and she said that if he wasn't responding to my texts then to give him a call, and explain that I texted him. Well I called him and he answered. He told me that he was sick in the hospital for two days, and that's why he didn't respond. He told me to text me my full name, and he'll talk to hr to see what's going on. I feel like I got screwed because he specifically asked me to text him. I was just anxious because I need a fricken job. I'm afraid my case manager gave me the wrong advice, and that I pissed someone off.

Alright so you did get a follow up. You weren't wrong to call him because your case manager told you to call him, and I hope you explained that to the manager when he picked up the phone. Hopefully he does find out from HR if you got the job or not. I know how nerve racking it is when you really need a job and you're just hoping for that break through, so I feel your concerns.
