If you are sick then you are sick, definitely call off work then! If you are not sick but still call in sick... Good for you taking some extra days off. Might suck for your boss but I would still do it anyways. Being forced to work everyday when you sign a contract with your employer is totally a modern form of slavery which I can't understand at all. We all have bad days emotionally or physically but you are simply not allowed to skip work unless you take some time off your yearly vacation days. Fuck that shit. Therefore you should think about what's best for yourself because your employer won't do it for you

When I worked for the state I had a lot of sick time and if you didn't use it, you would lose it. Most of the time I would be really sick but I also played hookey from work it it was a nice day out and I just felt like hanging out at the beach.

Once I was hospitalized with a DVT bloodclot. I kept it pretty quiet , only lettign one of my techs know what was going on. Somehow it got out to all the VPs. Thr HR department wanted me to bring in a doctors note. I did not bother and I was told that all the VPs were running all over the campus looking for me. When one of them caught up with me Iwas told to go home immediately and not come back until I had a doctors note.

I'm retired now.

When I was really sick, I called in sick. My bosses and HR always requested that. Don't want to get others sick, and a sick person is not productive anyway. Stay home and get better.

Occasionally, I called in "sick" just because I needed a break. My bosses didn't have any problem with that.
