I've seen guys I found very good looking and likeable that I never bothered to talk to cause I assumed they could find somebody way more attractive than me, then later on, I check their social media and learn they are in romantic relationships with people far less attractive than me and I learned I was wrong when I thought they would reject me for being less attractive then themselves.
I also find that people who are less educated than me, but more confident than me in the power of their education and ability to find jobs, tend to get more job offers than me. I went to a good school, but I wasn't optimistic about my independent employment options when I first left university, because I was too busy preparing for grad school to take advantage of the career centre at my school, where they help you find jobs after you finish your studies.
And I see people who are less intelligent than me getting paid because they do not overly scrutinize or prejudge themselves and do not try to endlessly fix their work ahead of time, out of a fear of not being good enough.
