Wow... what a survival story. This guy was captured by the Japanese on Guadalcanal and tortured and left for dead. He survived, got back to US Marines...3 miles away and informed them the Japanese were coming.. just in time to stop a major Japanese attack. He survived well into the 1980s.
Can you imagine having that left of strength and passion to survive? So many today commit suicide... and this guy went through hell to survive. I hope you find it an inspiring story.
